Dr. Richard J Miller

I am the Alfred Newton Richards Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. I obtained my PhD at Cambridge University in my native England and came to the USA in 1975. I spent 25 years at the University of Chicago prior to moving to Northwestern University in 2000. Most of my research has concerned the way different drugs and neurotransmitters affect the activity of nerve cells. My laboratory has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1976.

In addition to science I am passionate about all of the arts, the lives of animals, the environment and sports. I am also an author and you will find links to my books on this blog.
